PORT & RAIL INITIATIVE

The single biggest challenge facing junior mining companies with export potential is access to Port and Rail facilities.
RBCT is largely an exclusive facility for it’s main share holders, and Matola Port in Maputo is rapidly being monopolised in a similar way .
A severe shortage of rolling stock and future track (design) planning on the part of Transnet (TFR) is a significant draw back further frustrating the problem.
Ecca has recognised the need to develop an “ownership strategy” in Port and Rail facilities and has identified a key position in Maputo with the assistance of our
Mozambican partners, two key areas in Maputo for this purpose.
Ecca has joined forces with some strategic partners to initiate the Port and Rail expansion project in Maputo.:-
Phase 1 involves  a 1,8m ton “allocation” which will initially be supported by skip loading facilities.
Trains will be Maputo bases and not be drawn from the RSA system.
Phase 2 will expand the facility to 4 million tons per annum following the required infrastructure spend (expanded rail loop, ship loader and tippler system.
Involves the Importation of 700 wagons and 20 locomotives.
The Port and Rail initiative is driven by a committed team of individuals who have the necessary industry support both locally and in Mozanbique.
